Wisconsin Ag in the Classroom offers an annual essay contest for fourth and fifth grade students. Each year the topic has specific lesson plans, activities and other resources that teachers and home school parents can use to teach about Wisconsin agriculture. The 2014-2015 topic is “Why are bees important to Wisconsin agriculture?” This year’s contest will be sponsored by Frontier Servco FS, We Energies and the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Foundation.
The 2013-2014 Essay Contest winner was Trinity from Phillips. The topic was “Wisconsin gardens provide many food choices for us.” A total of 2,456 Wisconsin students wrote essays for the competition sponsored by the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Foundation, Frontier-Servco FS and We Energies.
